Modinomics at Work: BSE Sensex Scales New Highs

Indian stock market indices scaled new highs on Wednesday with the Sensex breaching the 30,000 mark. The Nifty crossed 9,300 for the first time. The latest rally comes amidst renewed investor confidence in Indian economy and bullish sentiments overall.

Indian stocks have gained over 12% already this calendar year, outperforming global markets. Foreign investors and analysts have reaffirmed their faith in the present leadership; have resumed buying after a brief pause of two weeks. The sentiment was echoed by investment guru Mark Faber who said that he would prefer India to the US for next 10 years as he believes Modi would perform better than Donald Trump.

Unlike previous bull runs which ended in stock market bubbles, the latest rally has been driven by fundamentals so far. Bellwether Reliance has been a major contributor, rallying nearly 40% riding the Jio wave which shook the Indian telecom industry. Infrastructure stocks have bounced back smartly with the hopes of better conditions as the central govt speeds up investment by removing hurdles and restructuring languishing projects. Banking and finance sector too are looking up, after the RBI took strict measures to recognise and resolve long pending NPA issues, a legacy of the previous govts.

As the worst of Demonetization effects, which were mostly over-hyped by some dubious ‘analysts’, seem to be over, the public has reaffirmed its confidence on the central govt and investors are making a beeline to invest in the India growth story. If the economy sustains the momentum to grow at 9-10% as the finance minister Jaitley confidently says, 40,000 may not be too far for Sensex.

Brand Modi Strengthens Even as Opponents Fight for Survival

MCD exit polls are the latest indication that Indian voter can’t be taken for granted. The days of MSM narratives dictated by the Lutyens elite influencing the Junta are now clearly passé. People are now connected, practical, and know when they’re being taken for a ride. Recent election results in many states and municipal corporations reaffirmed just this.

After Congress, SP and other regional parties, the AAP is the latest to learn this lesson. After riding Anna Hazare’s popularity wave and hijacking the anti-corruption movement to propel their political ambitions, Kejriwal and company figured they didn’t have to do any hard work to come up in politics. All they had to do was to pretend to be different, and indulge in a steady stream of negative propaganda against the centre and other political parties. Only thing they didn’t realize was that people of Delhi wanted to give him a chance, to see if he was actually any different. And that a bigger change was already there, in the form of Modi.

The contrast is striking. On one side there’s Modi and his team of hardworking and efficient ministers supported at NDA ruled states which keep introducing one efficient CM after another. The latest in the list of popular NDA CMs is Yogi Adityanath, who’s making all the right moves, adding to Modi’s overall popularity.  On the other, we see Congress, with a leader who keeps vanishing on holidays after every election loss. Rahul Gandhi’s team of CMs have been equally pathetic, from Siddaramaiah to Virbhadra Singh.  Other regional parties which are trying to put up a united fight against Modi are in total shambles with a host of internal problems, without any clue or credibility required to inspire confidence in people.

While his opponents are running helter-skelter trying to figure out their next move, Modi has been relentless with systematic planning and implementation of his goals. Despite thumping electoral victories and he hasn’t taken a break in nearly three years as PM. Even as the Delhi drama unfolds, he was busy addressing his chief ministers, taking stock of the progress made and anlaysing ppt presentations from CMs on the roadmap to achieve development targets. Yes, targets and PPTs. Modi is the only political leader who works like a corporate CEO. No wonder many people across the country see him as the only hope amidst a political landscape filled with years corruption and red tape. Though several analysts and liberal journalists have gone into panic mode, the complete rout of opposition is just what the doctor ordered for the country. If they have to survive, they need to forget the old, corrupt ways and adapt to the new unforgiving landscape.  Till they are able to do it, Modi would have fewer obstacles in his quest to resurrect India.

Going on for a date, then be aware of these biggest turnoffs for your partner

It is an auspicious moment, to go out for the first date with your partner, as it is the first arrow which you project on your relationship to build a great bond, but what if it turns into a night mare?
There are many traits that make a guy/girl the perfect one, however, there are many turn offs which makes them hatred by their partners.

Here’s a list of those poor tradition one should be aware of when going on for first date.

The biggest turn offs for women,
1.       Insecure/Nervy Personalities
Guys be aware of this, this is one of the most negative trait you produce, which is a biggest turn off for the first date. Let me tell you, we have heard about how our first impression impacts on others we meet. The society would only keep you away, then how would girls believe in you. On your first date, be sure you are confident; else it would ruin your date. Women can easily notice your each move, if you are not confident, or nervous it would alarm her and would lose her trust on you. So be aware of this trait. Be who you are, never think of impressing any one, it would be a reason for your backlash, be bold and energetic. Build an aura on yourself, which in return make you Unique.

2.       Boring guys
Guys who are boring is a great turn off for women, once in a while we meet someone who is very boring, their conversation neither light up our eyes nor we fall asleep. Presence of mind is one which brings women closer to us. Be present in this moment, go on be little funny/naughty/aggressive, but never offend her.

3.       Loud/Boasting guys
Some guys show off/ build their image as a super hero, one like who hits 100 villains at a time, Graphic type a GUY. Keep in mind that you are not going be a hero in front of her unless you get a chance. She believes in right actions at right time. So better wait and watch for the right time to act. Perfect prediction, perfect foot work and perfect timing sends the ball out of the stadium. Never be too impetuous, wait and act. Well!!! I didn’t mean to say to kick the restaurant waiter if your order is late, which never impress any girl LOL. Think wise.

4.       Hyper sensitive/ kiddo
We all are kid at heart; we have emotions and also love to express it. Remember, why would women, want to be with them who are their another version?  Oops! Never ever expose this trait on your first date, if you are that kind.

5.       Overenthusiastic/ Hyper active
Being active is a great nature of yours, when it exceeds the limit, it leads to irritation. What is there is performing as a one man show? She feels her absence very soon, she wants to indulge in the activity, and she wants to impress you as well, give her chance, and let her take the lead sometimes. It’s good that you impress her by being spontaneous, meanwhile remember anything which is more is poisonous.

To be frank, like women, even men have many dreams on dating!! Men too are very observant and highly sensitive when they feel offended.

Now let me tell you the little things that turn men off in a big way.

1.       Don’t be too controlling/dominating
Are you too controlling when your guys is around you? Do you want everything he does in your approve? Well, it is good to control him on occasions, or may be little rare, when is going in a way which is not good to him, he may also feel sweetened/ cared. But if you make it a routine, he would definitely feel offended and try to avoid you. Gosh! Please don’t even think of it on your first date with him, let it be his show, enjoy his way of pleasing you.

2.       Yes or no answers
Don’t be too shy, he is confused alien. When you are with him, like, when he ask for your order for the dinner, pleas be open and give him your suggestions on what to order, or else he would be confused. Try to converse and share your opinion, he would feel relaxed and easy.

3.       Baby talking
If you are already in relationship, then it’s fine. But on your first date never talk like an infant as it is one of the fastest way to turnoff them. A guy may think you’re being cute if you act girly and sweet, but mouthing words like a baby that’s still learning to talk will only make him cringe. For baby talking to work, there needs to be an intimate bond between the guy and the girl. If you’re still getting to know each other, avoid talking like a baby. It won’t turn him on, and you won’t look sweeter doing it!

4.       Getting too serious, too soon
This is one of the biggest mistake girls do. Don’t try to be as you are already in relationship and scare that little baby!!!
If he likes you and has said that he want to meet you again and again, don’t take it seriously and call him all the time and ask him whether he had food, what is he doing, why didn’t he call you or why didn’t he inform you about his outing with friends. This would be a great turn off for him and also he might take you for granted. Be aware of this.

5.       Never take him for granted
Last but the most important trait you have is that you take him for granted. If you are in relationship, men may notice it little later and oppose this. However, if you are going on for the first date with him, never take his greets and care for granted as if it is his duty to do, he may find it highly odd attitude and quickly run away. Be nice to him, he deserves to be one.
Avoid these biggest dating turn offs and avoid crossing thin line separating crazy and cute at any point of time when you are with him and have a memorable time with your partner.

AIADMK Throws Out Sasikala as EPS Decides to Join OPS

OPS &  EPS
Tamilnadu ruling party AIADMK removed the biggest hurdle blocking the merger of two rival factions by throwing out the Mannargudi family from the government as well as party activities. With this move its now certain that the OPS and EPS factions would come together soon. After a meeting of MLAs and MPs at the Chief Minister’s residence last evening, Minister D Jayakumar had announced that Dhinakaran and his family will be kept away from AIADMK and its govt. However, there’s no clarity yet on who is going to head the united government.

Though EPS, who was handpicked by Sasikala, seems to want the CM post at any cost, OPS supporters say he should be the first choice.
Sasikala and TTV
Meanwhile, Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran rushed back to Chennai in a bid to salvage the situation by herding his MLAs. He said that all MLAs are with him and there was no revolt in the party.

The sudden turn of events have led to speculations of the centre’s increasing influence in Tamilnadu politics, and a possibility of the ruling AIADMK growing closer to NDA, just ahead of the presidential election. Meanwhile, the crime branch has issued a lookout notice against the Dhinakaran, who’s an NRI, as intelligence reports had suggested that he may try to flee the country. Delhi police had lodged an FIR against Sasikala’s nephew after recent raids revealed his involvement in the bribery and corruption cases.

Pakistan Back to Dirty Tricks - Sentences Indian to Death without Trial

Kulbhushan Jadhav
An Indian national was sentenced to death by Pakistan on Monday after a sham trial in contravention of all international norms. While Pakistan claims Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer, is a Spy working for RAW, India has accused Pak of cooking up a false case after abducting him from Iraq. Indian authorities expressed anguish over the news, saying the death sentence without a transparent and fair trial would amount to pre-meditated murder.

Indian defense experts have said that Pakistan has failed to provide any proof to support its allegations and also refused to provide consular access to India, a right given to any country under the Geneva Convention.

Pakistan had accused Jadhav of creating war and unrest in Baluchistan and tried him under the Army Act and Official Secrets Act in an opaque manner. India reacted strongly to the news and summoned Pak High Commissioner Abdul Basit and issued a demarche. India also withheld the goodwill release of 12 Pak prisoners scheduled for Wednesday.

Pakistan was never known for honoring treaties or international rules, but this case has once again exposed its double standards to the world. While it allows free movement to dreaded terrorists like Hafiz Sayeed on its soil and keeps demanding more proof to show the involvement in terror activities in India, it has thrown all norms to the wind in case of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Bengaluru Gets Pink Hoysalas for Women Safety

Bengaluru women can heave a sigh of relief, as the state govt finally seems to have woken up to the deteriorating law and order situation in the city, especially considering women's safety.

A fleet of pink Hoysala patrolling vehicles aimed at improving women’s safety were launched launched earlier this week by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru. These pink vehicles, armed with GPS and cameras will be deployed at sensitive locations with three women staff in each. Aimed as an emergency response team these would help people in distress through the ‘Suraksha’ App or whenever complaint are received through police control room.

Bengaluru Police believes that in addition to the existing fleet of over 200 Hoysalas used for general patrolling, the new 24/7 pink patrol would add moral support to women. However, there may not be any net addition to the overall patrol vehicles as the new ones are said to be replacing old ‘Abhaya’ vehicles.

What’s So Special about D-Mart?

Radhakishan Damani
The latest blockbuster to hit Indian stock markets is not any hi-tech start-up with a whole new disruptive technology. It’s a retail chain called Avenue Supermarts, promoted by one of India’s well known investors Radhakishan Damani.  Upon listing on the 21st March, the shares of Avenue Supermarts, which owns and operates the retail stores, had beaten all other retail chains in the world like the Tesco, Costco and Walmart.

From the issue price of 299, the stock saw over 100% gains on the listing day itself, catapulting its founder Damani into the top 20 richest Indians, overtaking even Anil Ambani. Even after two weeks after listing, the buying interest in the stock hasn’t abated even a little. Many are wondering what’s so special about a company which runs another chain of retail stores in the already crowded marketplace with big names such as Reliance Retail, Future Group, Tatas and Birlas ! The answer may lie in the way D-Mart has carefully avoided the mistakes committed by the others.

There are several factors where D-Mart has successfully minimized the risks. One of the major factors observed by analysts is that it owns most of the properties, reducing lease-rental costs. Another, probably the most important, is that D-Mart has avoided rapid expansion in its initial years, and stuck to sales of fast moving goods, which allowed it to maintain a healthy balance sheet.  With its operating expertise and dedicated customer base which keeps returning for the attractive discounts, D-Mart has been highly profitable compared to other retail chains. In fact, its compounded growth rate in last 3 years has been a phenomenal 35 % while big names worldwide struggle to achieve the double digit mark.

D-Mart
Though there is consensus among experts that Avenue Supermarts will be able to sustain its profitability and growth rate, they caution investors against rushing to buy at these astronomical valuations and suggest waiting for some dips, especially for those who haven’t been lucky to get IPO allotments.

Black Money Crackdown Continues, IT Raids Across the Country

More than 100 Crores in black money was unearthed in IT raids across the country, which began after the declaration window under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana closed on March 31. Several premises of an Ahmedabad-based business group is said to have been the target of  the first set of raids carried out at 50 different locations across the country.

In the latest raids conducted in Tamilnadu, which included the premises of health minister C Vijayabaskar, over 5 crore cash and several incriminating documents having reference to the upcoming by-poll in RK Nagar were also seized.
IT Raids in Chennai
The crackdown revealed that the amount of money distributed in RK Nagar could be as high as 100 crores.  Politicians, especially the Sasikala faction, has called the raids as political conspiracy, while the opposition DMK seized the opportunity to target Vijayabaskar, demanding his resignation.

The income tax department had been urging all black money holders through a series of advertisements, giving a last opportunity to avail a voluntary declaration scheme through PMGKY to come clean.  It had also cautioned that defaulters would face stringent action and that the names would also be shared with ED and other investigative agencies.

A 'Mediotic' Tale of Two CMs – Kejriwal and Yogi

The contrast between two most talked about CMs couldn’t have been starker. One, a media darling, projected as the savior of the aam admi, crusader against corruption. And the other, projected as a right wing militant who would destroy the state, pushing it back to the stone age!

CM  Arvind Kejriwal
In three years as CM, Kejriwal has proved that he’s a complete fraud and a failure as a CM, coming nowhere close to the brand image that was built on Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption platform. The signs were there to see from the beginning of his tenure, when founder members and well known anti-corruption activists were thrown out of Kejriwal’s party so that there would be no one to question his autocracy.  What followed in last two years has been a nightmare for the voters of Delhi. Ask anyone, it’s a lesson they will not forget soon.

Kejriwal and his supporters used frivolous arguments as defense against numerous cases of corruption involving ministers and party members. However, all these fell apart completely after the latest report from the Shunglu committee exposed them. From using taxpayer money for his party advertisements to lavish foreign trips while his state was facing dengue and garbage crisis to zero action on his sky high promises, the media’s erstwhile blue eyed boy has failed the people of Delhi in every aspect. Accusations of nepotism and of rewarding party workers with plum posts are just a few examples of how Kejriwal and his cronies feel they can get away with anything under the garb of ‘aam admi’. In spite of the recent drubbing in Goa and clear signs that people have realized their folly, Kejriwal’s claim that govt should foot his bill to fight a personal criminal defamation case probably is the best example of his arrogance.

CM Yogi Adityanath
Compare this to UP’s new CM. Yogi Adityanath was portrayed as the worst choice to lead the state by the media and so called liberal thinkers who couldn’t stop speculating on worst case scenarios, just as they did in 2014 after Modi was made the NDA PM candidate. But Yogi has swung into action right from the word go and is working on fulfilling his promises one after the other. Not even a month has passed after he was sworn in, the saffron wearing straight talking CM has made his priorities clear – steps for women safety, crackdown on lethargy and corruption in public office, closure of illegal abattoirs, swach UP push, reforms in education, infrastructure and a road map for uninterrupted electricity for every household – all within a span of three weeks. And the best part is Yogi doesn’t pretend to be what he’s not. From his attire to speeches, he doesn’t seem to hide behind pretentions.

While Kejriwal claimed to be a poor, unassuming aam admi, took a complete u-turn after becoming CM to claim all the luxuries as his right and forgetting all about his promises, it still remains to be seen what power does to Yogi. Looking at the simple village lifestyle of his family members and the focus and urgency shown so far towards the development of UP, Yogi clearly seems to be far better as a leader and administrator than not only his Delhi counterpart, but also from what the media tried to tell the world.

More Trouble for Tainted Guru Despite Cow Gimmicks

Tainted havyaka guru Raghaveshwara Bharathi of Ramachandrapura Mutt has been trying to regain followers by various tactics. He was in news recently through a movement for the protection of cows, especially the indigenous variety.

However, many observers say that his gimmicks are not helping him escape the law in serious rape cases he’s facing. Recently he suffered a major setback when the blackmail case filed by the mutt’s devotees was dismissed by the police as baseless and lacking any proof.

In 2014, Raghaveshwara Bharathi was accused of multiple accounts of rape by a famous artiste who used to be part of Ramkatha events organised by the mutt. Just before the rape complaint was filed, Raghveshwara’s team had tried to intimidate the artiste by filing a case of blackmail against her husband and even managed to get the couple arrested without bail for almost a month, under suspicious circumstances.

A second case of rape had been filed by a 25-year-old havyaka woman in 2015, who alleged that the guru sexually abused her between 2006 and 2012, when she was still in school. In her complaint, the woman said she didn’t have the courage to complain earlier as Raghaveshwara had threatened her of dire consequences if she told anybody about it. For unknown reasons, the second case has not seen any progress after initial reports of the case which was filed with the help of a women’s organization in Bengaluru.

Raghaveshwara Bharathi
Raghaveshwara’s supporters have accused almost every agency involved in the case of conspiring against their guru. They accused the CID for finding evidence of the crime, the police for filing a charge sheet, and even the Chief Justice of High Court, in what appeared to be a pre-emptive strike of sorts. Initially 5 judges had recused from the case which is in High Court now after the sessions court dismissed rape allegations despite admitting that there was enough evidence to prove that the accused had sexual intercourse with the complainant.

Raising several eyebrows, the lower court verdict strangely mentioned that the sexual acts were consensual, despite the complainant clearly stating she was coerced and threatened by the powerful seer who wields a lot of influence in the community.

Bengaluru Prison Flouts Rules for VIP Prisoner Sasikala

Bengaluru Central Jail
Authorities in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru have thrown rules to the wind in the case of their VIP ‘guest’ inmate from the neighboring state of Tamilnadu. According to a report in the TOI, prison authorities are said have allowed 28 visitors on 14 occasions in a span of 31 days, which is a blatant violation of rules. The rule-book says that a convicted prisoner is allowed to meet visitors from family, relatives and advocates only once in 15 days, that too just for 10 minutes from behind bars within the prison complex. But Sasikala was provided a private place and most of her meetings were said to have lasted over half an hour.

Shashikala

The high profile AIADMK leader is currently serving a four-year prison term after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.  Prison records showed that the convict no. 9234 was allowed to meet 28 visitors between Feb 16 and March 18 in a special area, mostly in private. They said it was under pressure from higher authorities. In addition to relatives and advocates, her visitors include AIADMK party leaders and even politicians from Andhra Pradesh with business interests in TN.

Though the DG (Prisons), Sathyanarayana Rao has so far denied any special privileges given to Sasikala, it appears that it’s business as usual for the political leader from Tamilnadu, without any hindrance within the secure walls of Parappana Agrahara.
